Yesterday was my second hike with Anna. On both
occasions, we marveled at the sight of trees growing out of rocks.
You may not be all that impressed, unless you
know how hard it is to get trees to grow in our dry, cold, windy Wyoming
climate—even when planted in soil
carefully, weeded lovingly, and irrigated religiously. The pine in this photo
deserves the highest honors for bravery and triumph in the battle for survival!
