2015 New Moo Awards, Pt. II

The inspiration for and winner of the Long Tall Texan Award is Buster. (In contrast to Buster's dimensions is his scraggly tail.)

Don't you think Buster needs a Stetson?

2105 New Moo Awards, Part I

Our first winner is Fancy, the uncontested title-holder of the Blessed Stork Award.

An old green Subaru stork delivered Fancy, a new orphan, to Panda, who had recently lost her own calf. Panda's initial reluctance to adopt Fancy soon gave way to pride and devotion. We haven't seen Fancy's ribs since.

The Help

Annabelle regularly volunteers her services as edge trimmer and would gladly "mow" the lawn if I'd let her. (Yes, she is on her knees!)

Possibilities

Somewhere over the rainbow

Is little blue-eyed Sky!

Hoof Business

The horses drew a crowd while getting their hooves trimmed today.

Solly can be pushy at times but is always a gentleman when trimmed or shod.

Sugar wasn't napping, I assure you, since she detests hoof business of any kind. Perhaps she was praying that it would be over soon.

Spring Fashions

A hard frost last week took its toll in the garden, but a few blossoms were still available to pose for a post-shower photo shoot.

Point of View

At long last! Real, wet, honest-to-goodness, pasture-growing, tree-saving, garden-blessing, farmer-rejoicing rain!

Sodden calves seeking shelter beneath trees are slightly less enthusiastic.

Sort Of

We've had a dry spring, even for this arid country. Sometimes it sort of rains. The rain clouds sprinkle or drizzle, but then they fizzle. Last night, we saw a sort of rainbow.

Good Company

I don't always run with deer...

...and dogs...

...and horned toads...

...and bull snakes.

Sometimes I actually run with people.

Me and a few gals--1,930 of us--were trying to stay warm before the 5-mile race at the Montana Women's Run.

I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green      pastures;

Mug Shots

Paisley is as photogenic as her big sister, Dazzle, and as impish as her big brother, Linus.

Security cameras caught Millicent "pruning" a current bush.

Got milk?

Joy does. Note the milky froth. She gets so much milk that she's almost pudgy.

Hay Babies

I love it when the cows are in the little pasture behind the house. All I have to do is look out a window to get an eyeful of cuteness and cheer.
