We met the Meeteetse game warden, Jim Olson, at the Kirwin trailhead. Although he and his family were gearing up for a pack trip in the Absarokas, Jim was kind enough to introduce us to a few of his favorite mules. These beauties are not only smart, strong, and sure-footed, but they're
gaited, meaning they have a really smooth, fast running walk.
