The Jitterbug

Josephine's latest trick is to vault onto her mama's back and prance around until falling off.

When Jubilee tires of being a dance floor, she makes herself too tall for Josephine to reach.

I wonder if Jubilee remembers that when she was a little kid, she loved to cut a rug on top of her mama too.

A Fairy Tale, Wyoming-Style

Flowers around here have been understandably reluctant to show their faces. Maybe they suspected that spring was actually winter masquerading as spring, a seasonal version of Little Red Riding Hood. 

LITTLE PINK INDIAN PAINTBRUSH: (shivering) My, Grandmother Spring, what snowy weather you have! 

BIG BAD WINTER: (wearing Grandmother Spring's old yellow slicker and new fuchsia-and-chartreuse plaid rain boots) Ah, the better to water you with, my dear. 

LITTLE PINK INDIAN PAINTBRUSH: But, Grandmother, what bitter winds you have! Don't you have any sunshine for me?

BIG BAD WINTER: (mutters under his breath) Well, aren't you the little whiner today? (raises his voice) Come closer, dearie, and let Grandmother give you a big frosty hug!

LITTLE PINK INDIAN PAINTBRUSH: (gasps) You're not Grandmother Spring! She's beautiful and kind, and you're ugly and mean! (dives back into the safety of Mother Earth)

Two Peasants and a Princess

Moey brought Lenny (rear) and Squiggy into the world last week. If you're my contemporary, you know they're named after two characters in LaVerne & Shirley, a spin-off of Happy Days.     

Sadly--very sadly--Moey died from complications from a difficult kidding. Lenny and Squiggy soon adapted to the bottle as well as their new orphanage, the house, where they slept during the cold nights.

Ellie likes to hang out with the hilarious kids as much as we do, but since we don't want them to think that they're human or canine, they're mostly kept in a pen next to other goats.

Next, Jubilee presented the world with Josephine. Last year, Jubilee's first kid was stillborn, so everyone is extra happy about Josephine. 

Since Jubilee is reigning herd queen, I assume that Josephine is heir apparent to the throne. Josephine likes playing with Lenny and Squiggy, but Jubilee gets very upset when her little princess associates with commoners.
